Christmas 2018

Once again Tilly’s is preparing for the 2018 Christmas Outreach Program to the needy children living in Newark and Irvington NJ.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped last year! We were able to distribute holiday gifts to over 3,000 deserving children.

For those of you that were in attendance when gifts were hand delivered, you saw the expressions of excitement and joy on each of their faces. The majority of the children are identified as “in need” by the Newark Public School System. Due to situations of poverty, the gifts given to these children by our organization are likely the only ones they will receive. Truly, each and every gift received is treasured.

Newark has recently been designated as a sanctuary city. As a reflection of this status, the schools that we serve are seeing an increase of students this year. More than ever, we are in need of and will appreciate any and all help whether it be from donated new toys, warm gloves and hats, monetary assistance and/or prayer.

Some of the ways you can be helpful to this outreach effort would be:
1. Collecting and donating new and unwrapped toys. Suggested toy donations are: new basketballs, footballs, nerf balls, board games, card games, puzzles, books, coloring books & crayons, blankets, legos, Barbie dolls and baby dolls, match box cars, and playdoh.
2. Donating monetary donations for the purchase of toys, blankets, hats, gloves, cupcakes, water bottles and gift bags. Checks can be made to Tilly’s Kids. C/o Pastor Tilly Giresi, P.O. Box 735 Andover NJ 07821.

The children’s ages range from 3 to 14 years.
Some of the schools serviced last year were: S.17th Street Elementary School, Cleveland Avenue Elementary School, Chancellor Avenue School, Harriet Tubman Elementary School, JFK High School (special needs) and Augusta Street School. Also, preschool children at many other local head start programs were provided gifts. Lastly, there are many families in need that look to Tilly’s Kids to be sponsored year to year.

Tilly’s Kids is a registered Non-Profit, 501 (c ) (3 ), making all charitable donations tax deductible.
For large and bulk donations that need to be picked up or for any questions you may have, please contact the House of Mercy Mission at 973.642.6226 or email Pastor Tilly Giresi at

Since we will be distributing gifts to our first school on Thursday, December 14th, we request that all donations be received by Monday, December 11th.
Thank you to everyone for all your love and support. This is the real meaning of Christmas! We are blessed to be able to give to those less fortunate and in need.
May God bless you, the children and faculty at the schools, and all those supporting this endeavor.
